some of the other New Zealand aroma heavy weights such as Motueka or Riwaka. A fun hop in the brewery which literally sighs with pleasure when plunged into a hop back. Typically employed in “new world” style pale ales and creative brewers are using it for very intense summer ales where its fruit forward aroma and oils profile make for a refreshing finish.

Taiheke® is a New Zealand-grown expression of the renowned Cascade cultivar, offering vibrant citrus character alongside a distinctive Southern Hemisphere twist. Known for its bright grapefruit and lime notes, it also reveals layers of tropical fruit that add extra depth and complexity to its aroma profile.
During selection, Taiheke consistently impressed with its intense citrus presence, combining classic Cascade characteristics with the lively fruit-forward traits that have become synonymous with New Zealand hops. The result is a hop that is both familiar and refreshingly unique.
Highly versatile in the brewhouse, Taiheke performs exceptionally well as a single-hop variety across multiple kettle additions, developing balanced bitterness, flavour, and aroma throughout the brewing process. When used in late additions, whirlpool applications, or dry hopping, its vibrant citrus oils and tropical fruit notes move to the forefront, creating a bright and expressive hop character.
Taiheke also shines when paired with other premium New Zealand varieties such as Motueka® and Riwaka®, where its grapefruit and lime profile complements and enhances more intense tropical and citrus-driven aromas.
Perfect for modern pale ales, summer ales, and other hop-forward craft styles, Taiheke delivers a refreshing, fruit-led finish that appeals to brewers and hop lovers alike.
A lively and versatile hop that blends classic Cascade citrus with unmistakable New Zealand fruit character.
